Yet another battle

The news came late Friday that the Arizona State Senate voted to place another measure on the ballot in November to amend the State Constitution to include discrimination. In spite of the fact that the voters of Arizona made history in 2006, right-wing lobbyist forced the Senate to break the rules of procedure to force a vote in the final hours of the legislative session. The Senate had voted down the measure just days before - but kept it alive by approving a motion to reconsider.

This is going to be a tough battle, but I truly believe that with our community coming together and telling our stories, this is a battle that can be won!

Trip to DC - FINALLY an update!

So I have been promising Kim for MONTHS that I was going to update my blog... So here it is.

The beginning of March I went to Washington, DC for 5 days. I went for HRC's annual spring meeting. Every March steering committees from across the country come together for a day of lobbying Congress, then for Board meetings and training tracks.

The first picture is of the capitol building after our lobby day. We had a reception in the capitol with members of Congress, after a long day of working 'on the hill.'

I travelled with Kathy, and meet Linda & Carolyn on Thursday to lobby the Arizona Congressional delegation. We had a great time and met with all but two members.

Then Friday and Saturday we had training tracks - I attended the 'Gala Dinner Training' - as I am going to be the dinner Co-Chair for the Arizona dinner for the next two years. I am really excited, but it is going to be a lot of work!

Friday morning I had some time to go see some of the monuments. The Lincoln Monument is so impressive! The Vietnam Veteran's Memorial we so moving! I found myself in tears as I walked up to it. It was so incredible to see all of the names of all of those lives lost. I could get very political right here, but I won't.. Maybe I will save that for another posting. Here are some pictures I took...

Well there is a little info from the Washington trip. I love being in DC - if it weren't so cold I could see myself living there.

Not so obsessed anymore...

So I guess I just got tired of how long each story line dragged on. This has happened before though, so not to worry! It seems I will watch the show for a month and get reeled in - then I will miss it for three months, but come right back and pick up where I left off. Funny how that happens! Now I seem to be obsessed with The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. I think that those two shows should be required viewing! They really help you realize how absurd this country is at the moment...

Anyway - that is it for now... way more exciting posts to come!!! Stay tuned....

Winston... Too many stories to share, and no words to express what he means to me! Isn't it crazy that a dog can become so important?! Posted by Picasa

I'm Obsessed!

So I am obsessed with Days of Our Lives - Sad but true! I love that "Doc" has amnesia - again! I love that Sammy got away with being Stan - and so many other reasons to LOVE "Days".

That is all I really have to say now - I have a great idea for a post, but being that I have enjoyed a few glasses of Sangria - I should wait until tomorrow! But maybe tomorrow the idea won't be so great...

For now, let's just reflect on the amazing daytime drama we all secretly enjoy (and pray for Doc, that she will soon "remember").

My First Time

Question of the day...

Where do I take this? Do I use it as a way to tear down my walls and bear my soul to the whole world? Or... Do I hide behind this and write meaningless post after meaningless post?

I need time to think.
